Natural Selection of Pokemon

Driving Question: How does the environment drive a species to change?

Task:

1. Choose a Pokemon Evolution Line (ex/ Bulbasaur to Ivysaur to Venosaur)

2. Describe the environment your Pokemon lives in.

3. Compare the Pokemon stages.  How does the basic stage differ from the first evolution?  How does the first evolution differ from the second evolution?

4. Using the process of natural selection, explain how the Pokemon could have changed naturally from the basic form to the first evolution and then to the second evolution.  What was the environmental pressures that drove it to change?

5.  Present your explanation.  This could be a video, poster, or slide show.  Make sure to include the following:

- A description of the environment your Pokemon lives in.

- Pictures of all the Pokemon stages.

- A description of the differences between the Pokemon stages.

- An explanation, using the theory of natural selection, of how the Pokemon changed from one stage to another.

6. Level 4: Add an event that would change the Pokemon's environment (e.g., drought, fire, flood, loss of food resource).  Explain how your Pokemon would change in response to this environmental change.  Draw a picture of what the Pokemon might look like after this event (the next evolution!).
